Electrical Engineer

Our mission is to drive the world wide adoption of safe, low-cost energy storage systems by drawing on the numerous benefits of our lithium iron magnesium phosphate technology, the experience of our management team and the significant market opportunity available to us.

Job Requirements

  • BSEE or equivalent experience and education, MSEE degree a plus.
  • Experience or education in analog and digital circuit design.
  • Experience using circuit design software (Cadence PSPICE A/D preferred).
  • Experience in schematic capture with a controlled database library (OrCAD + Capture CIS preferred).
  • Experience or education in using manual and automated bench test equipment (National Instruments LabVIEW preferred).
  • Experience or education in battery electronics, battery technology, automotive standards and requirements, EV drive trains, electric motors a plus.
  • Experience in PCB design a plus.
  • Experience with the following is a plus: Mathcad, Xilinx ISE, Mentor Graphics ModelSim, Cadence Allegro software tools; CAN-bus, RS-485, I²C networks; firmware development.
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin a plus.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop electronic systems for Valence products. Product may be co-developed with members of Valence’s engineering teams in North America and China. Work closely with firmware and layout engineers during development.
  • As required by project, develop and document comprehensive product architectural designs and specifications for Valence products.
  • Develop and document test plans for product electronics.
  • Perform or coordinate testing and characterization of products.
  • Analyze customer requirements and design battery system configurations in support of applications engineering and sales activities.
  • Responsibilities and salary commensurate with experience and expertise.
  • Some international travel (<20%) may be required.

Sales Executive - Europe

Position description:

As a key member of the worldwide sales team, the Sales Executive – Europe will be responsible for coordinating the company’s sales efforts in designated parts of Europe. Initially the focus of this position will be to build a strong sales presence in Continental Europe, with emphasis in Germany, generating short-term revenue and long-term supply agreements with flag ship customers there.

V.P. of Sales & Marketing – Austin, Texas

Job Responsibilities:

The Sales Executive will be responsible to:

  • Develop and implement a business plan and sales strategy that ensures attainment of bookings, revenue and profitability goals; making adjustments as needed to ensure overall success.
  • Conduct necessary customer negotiations in line with company’s vision and values, while achieving maximum profitability and growth.
  • Prepare pursuit plans for managing and expanding existing accounts and for the effective search of sales leads and prospects.
  • Conduct WebEx demonstrations and meetings.
  • Close near-term, mid-term and long-term business.
  • Keep abreast of the company’s product technology and feature/ benefit set.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed.
  • Provide timely feedback to the V.P. of Sales & Marketing and to other parts of the company as appropriate.

Job Requirements:

The Sales Executive must possess:

  • Proficiency in, and the ability to assess, the competitive landscape in the European lithium battery market.
  • A minimum of 15+ years selling large format energy storage solutions.
  • A verifiable track record of building and managing a €10 million sales territory.
  • Strong skills in internal collaboration and consultative selling.
  • An extensive network of contacts in the transportation fleet, utility, industrial and or marine markets.
  • Presentation skills – must be able to show leadership in the boardroom.
  • Contract negotiation skills and experience.
  • A willingness and capability to travel up to 60%.
  • The ability to work autonomously from a home office environment.
  • The ability to work in a remote, regional office.
  • An Electrical or Chemical Engineering degree; an MBA degree is a strong asset.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and German

Applications Engineer - US

Our mission is to drive the world-wide adoption of safe, low-cost energy storage systems by drawing on the numerous benefits of our lithium phosphate technology, the experience of our management team and the significant market opportunity available to us. We are seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to join our company.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop strong relationships with the engineering teams and senior technical management of our clients, and with Valence’s worldwide organization.
  • Assume primary responsibility for all technical liaisons on client projects during the introduction, specification, integration and ongoing support of Valence’s energy storage solutions.
  • Help in the definition of next generation, class leading energy storage systems in conjunction with Valence’s engineering teams including collecting industry, customer, and market data through daily interactions with customers. Utilize this information to develop product and technology requirements and roadmaps.
  • Some travel will be required.
    Job Requirements:
  • BSEE, BSME or equivalent experience and education.
  • Have at least 4 years application engineering experience.
  • Have experience in both power and control systems.
  • Experience with battery systems and energy storage systems would be an asset.
  • Experience with electric drive trains, UPS systems and stationary power systems would be an asset.
  • Be self-assured and well organized, have excellent oral and written communications skills, and have IT skills.
